Having spent her early childhood years in Blue Mound before her family moved to the big city of Decatur, Tiffany has been a lifelong resident of Macon County. Reared in a working class family, her strong work ethic was instilled early on by her father, who provided for his family by working on his hands and knees while literally laying the foundations for local businesses, infrastructure, paving roads and pouring sidewalks as a Union Concrete Mason. Her passion for helping others was first nurtured by her mother, who frequently brought home stray or injured animals and often went out of her way to make friends with those who seemed to need one the most. With strong roots in work ethic and deep compassion for others, it is no surprise that she chose a career in Nursing.
Tiffany's passion for learning about different cultures and her desire to better understand the healthcare challenges for developing nations led her to Kenya in 2007 where she volunteered at an orphanage and medical clinic. She returned to the same community in Kenya multiple times over the next five years. Inspired by a desire to better connect with her Kenyan community, she chose to further explore healthcare perceptions of Kenyan students by conducting a formal research study while in the James Millikin Scholars program at Millikin University. Moved by the work being done to improve the lives of the children at the orphanage where she volunteered, Tiffany wanted to do more to help, so she worked with other volunteers to start a locally based non-profit organization whose mission is to help provide nutritional, educational and medical needs for the children at the orphanage.
Locally, Tiffany is known by her patients and colleagues as a fierce patient advocate and one that holds a firm belief in the philosophy that if we can do better, we should do better. Throughout her nursing practice, she has demonstrated a commitment to this standard by initiating educational outreach with local healthcare facilities focused on minimizing the risk of urinary tract infection among nursing home residents and collaborating with providers and administrators to help provide local access to a cutting edge procedure for prostate cancer patients that wasn't previously offered in our community..
After more than a decade of service to her community as a nursing professional, Tiffany now wants to do better for her community by serving you as Macon County Coroner.
Tiffany graduated with honors from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as a James Millikin Scholar in 2010.
While at Millikin, Tiffany participated in a summer immersion class at the China Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, School of Nursing, exploring evidence based alternative medicine.
Through the James MIllikin Scholar's Program, she completed undergraduate research exploring healthcare perspectives of students in Kenya and presented study findings at the annual Transcultural Nursing Society Conference in Atlanta, GA.
Professionally, Tiffany has spent the last 13 years providing direct patient care to local patients and families in the fields of Surgery and Surgical Oncology as a Registered Nurse.
Tiffany's strong analytical skills and broad experience based background in anatomy, pathophysiology, laboratory sciences, surgery, and comprehensive medical records review along with her innate drive to find answers to open questions provide a solid foundation for success in regards to her commitment to performing accurate and thorough death investigation to ensure families get the answers they need.
The Coroner plays a vital role serving our community not only by assisting law enforcement to provide justice for victims in potentially criminal death investigations, but also by providing humanity, dignity, and compassion to the bereaved families when dealing with what is likely the worst day of their lives. Tiffany is committed to performing all duties of the Coroner with the collaborative professional excellence that the justice system requires and the strength of compassion and empathy that grieving families deserve.
Tiffany's inherent sense of duty to advocate for doing better where we can do better ensures a continued commitment to advocate for change when areas for improvement are identified. From improving investigative practices or expanding access to emerging investigative techniques to improving upon the delivery of resources available to help families of lost loved ones grieve, she is dedicated to advocating for necessary change..
Throughout her time working as a Registered Nurse, Tiffany has been self motivated to identify gaps in care that may affect patient outcomes. Adopting the philosophy of one of her mentors, she has always tried to leave a place better than when she came into it by advocating for improved processes and services for the patient populations she has served. We believe that, as an elected official, the Coroner's duties should reach beyond the dealings of death and extend to advocating for better public safety and health for the people of Macon County. Elect Tiffany Hall to serve Macon County as Coroner and she will maintain a continued commitment to advocating beyond the Coroner's office and working with local healthcare and community leaders to address identified gaps in care created by our ever-changing local healthcare landscape and identifying opportunities for improved public safety and well being. With a Nurse as Coroner, learning how people die can help us live better.
